Specialising in behavioural, mood and thought disorders.

A paediatric psychiatrist uses their specialised training and knowledge to diagnose and treat mental illnesses or emotional troubles.

A paediatric psychiatrist has additional training on the issues children and teenagers face. Treatment may include individual therapy, family therapy, counselling or medication to help control certain behaviours or thoughts.

Examples of why your child might see a psychiatrist are:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Conduct disorder

  • Emotional problems

  • Self-harming

  • Schizophrenia

  • Gender dysphoria assessment (not hormonal treatment)

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Dr Peyman Bakhtiarian currently has the capacity to offer ‘once-off’ psychiatry appointments, (where no follow-up review is required, i.e. once-off assessment).  You will need a referral from your GP, that states this is for a ‘once-off’ assessment under Medicare item number 291.

Cancellation Policy

Please note that a minimum of 24hrs is required to cancel an appointment.  As we have extensive waiting lists, this enables us to offer a much needed appointment to another family. If notice is not received then a cancellation fee will be charged. Our full cancellation policy is available here.

Appointments that are not confirmed 24 hours prior to commencement, will be cancelled. Due to our extensive wait lists, our clinic needs to offer these appointments to other families in urgent need. Thank you for your understanding.
